Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Lutfihak ALPKAN attended the 2nd Coordination Group Meeting of Global Social Justice Coalition and delivered recommendations on the fields of intervention.
The 2nd Coordination Group Meeting of the Global Social Justice Coalition, of which Turkey is one of the 12 member governments, was held virtually. The Coalition's priority fields of intervention, such as communication and advocacy strategies, information production and sharing, and thematic areas, were discussed in detail by the Coordination Group members at the meeting.
Our Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Lütfihak ALPKAN attended the meeting and presented the opinions and recommendations of our country in these areas. In his speech, he underscored that social justice should be made a global priority not only due to its social dimensions, but also because of its critical economic and environmental reflections. In this context, he noted that significant events, such as the Second World Social Development Summit scheduled for 2025, present a historic opportunity to bring social justice goals to the global agenda.
Mr. ALPKAN emphasized the importance of preparing innovative content, visual materials, and policy notes while further stressing the indispensable role of campaigns targeting a wide audience to enhance the visibility of social justice.
Proposing the creation of digital platforms designed to streamline data sharing and foster collaboration among stakeholders, our Deputy Minister articulated that such platforms could offer solutions on both a regional and thematic scale. Pointing out that the six thematic areas of the coalition form a fundamental framework for advancing social justice and should be backed by concrete actions, the Deputy Minister emphasized that working groups play a crucial role in implementing these steps.
He further asserted that social justice is not merely an abstract concept, but a transformative force that fortifies societies and paves the way for a more sustainable future.
