Biography
Dr. Ömer Faruk AYDEMİR
Acting Deputy Director General
He was born in İzmir in 1992. He graduated as the top student of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, İzmir Gediz University. He completed his Master’s degree between 2016 and 2018 at Lund University, Sweden, at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies on a full scholarship.
He obtained his PhD degree from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, where he also studied on a full scholarship. He completed his doctoral dissertation in 2025, entitled “Foreign Policy Behaviour of Small States: An Analysis of the Foreign Policies of Kuwait and Oman in the Yemen and Gulf Crises.”
Between 2020 and 2024, he worked as a Lecturer at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University and Hacı Bayram Veli University. During the same period, he also held strategic consultancy positions in various research and consultancy firms.
Dr. Aydemir has continued his professional career within the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and has been serving as the Deputy Director General of Foreign Relations and European Union since February 2024.
He has published academic works and articles in national and international platforms in the fields of Turkish foreign policy, Middle Eastern and Gulf politics, foreign policy of small states, and terrorism.
Dr. Ömer Faruk Aydemir has good command of English. He is married and has one child.
