Minister Mr. IŞIKHAN came together with the Somali Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Salim Alio IBRO and the Accompanying Delegation.
Prof. Dr. Vedat IŞIKHAN, the Minister of Labor and Social Security came together with Salim Alio IBRO, the Somali Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, and his accompanying delegation because of the 1st meeting of Türkiye-Somalia Joint Working Commission.

Minister IŞIKHAN held a bilateral meeting with Somali Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Salim Alio IBRO, and then chaired the inter-delegation meeting together with his counterpart.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister IŞIKHAN expressed his pleasure that the relations between Türkiye and Somalia, which have acquired a strategic importance over the years, continue to develop and strengthen in all areas.

Minister IŞIKHAN conveyed his wishes for a productive and result-oriented working period and continued as follows:
“As the Ministry, we attach great importance to the exchange of experiences with the Somali side on issues falling within our field of duty and we intend to strengthen our cooperation in these areas. Following the intensive and dedicated efforts of our technical teams, we will sign the Protocol of the First Meeting of the Joint Working Commission between our Ministries, which has been finalized. After signing the Protocol with the Honorable Minister, the 2026-2027 Action Plan will enter into force, thereby ensuring the advancement of our cooperation within a specified timetable and concrete goals.”
Drawing attention to the importance of the Action Plan, Minister IŞIKHAN stated as follows: “This Action Plan envisages the establishment of comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between the two countries in many areas, including the strengthening of social dialogue mechanisms, labor inspection, occupational health and safety, effective management of labor migration, vocational training, and the development of national occupational standards. Thus, this would further advance our existing cooperation, broaden its framework, and establish a solid and sustainable legal basis for the exchange of information, documents and experts between our Ministries.”

At the end of the meeting, the Protocol of the First Meeting of the Türkiye-Somalia Joint Working Commission and its annexed 2026-2027 Action Plan were signed by the two Ministers and entered into force.
